As schools prepare to take a much deserved break for Hallowe'en, Bishop Murphy Memorial School in Fermoy are planning an exciting and fun event for primary school children from Fermoy and surrounding areas.

Thursday, October 23 from 7-9pm, the new sports yard will be transformed into a Hallowe'en haven with games, entertainment and much more for local children, as the school will host a Hallowe'en fair.

On the night, some of the highlights will include a haunted house, a bungee jump and of course, parents and children are urged to embrace the night and all that it promises by getting dressed up in their scariest outfits.

There will also be a wheel of fortune, sumo wrestling, a lucky dip and the night will wrap up with a fun disco. Throughout the night, there will also be pizza and hot dog stands and very seasonally, a tea and brack stand. While the raffle is something not to be missed with some wonderful prizes, including a two night break in an Athlone hotel and a family pass to visit Santa at Castle Oliver.

To get other schools involved, the parents' association have also launched two competitions - a colouring competition for those between junior infants and second class; and a pumpkin carving competition for the older children, which will be judged on the night.

Although the event is being hosted by a boy's national school, the parents' association stressed that all primary school children (not just boys) are more than welcome to attend.
