Change in ownership for Reidy’s SuperValu, Mitchelstown

Alan Reidy, has told The Avondhu that he felt it was time to take a step back in order to protect his health for the future.

Over the past ten years, Reidy’s SuperValu in Mitchelstown has been part and parcel of community life, headed up by the very popular Alan Reidy. However, it emerged this week that due to health concerns, Alan Reidy has announced his retirement. Customers will be glad to hear though that the SuperValu store will continue in business.

To retire was a decision that Alan didn’t come to lightly and while he is in good health at the moment, he told The Avondhu that he felt it was time to take a step back in order to protect his health for the future.

Alan suffers from Crohn’s disease and had surgery earlier this year, which really brought home to him how he was putting his health and welfare on the back burner in order to keep the business going. It simply wasn’t feasible to continue doing that.
