Eleven angling initiatives in Cork have been granted funding through Inland Fisheries Ireland’s Sponsorship Programme for 2019, including several events hosted in Rathcormac.

The programme, which supports novice anglers and angling tourism to the tune of €30,000, saw 87 angling events and initiatives in total across the country granted funding.

A funding mechanism of the National Strategy for Angling Development, angling clubs and federations apply to the programme, helping to provide support for hosting angling competitions, conservation events and novice coaching programmes.

Rathcormac Old School hosted a number of workshops, organised by Salmon & Sea Trout Recreational Anglers Ireland.

These included: a Fly Tying Intermediate/Beginner Event; Rathcormac Angling Club’s Casting Programme for three casting training sessions; and Rathcormac Angling Hub’s three ‘Introduction to Angling’ events.

Glanmire and District Cast Programme, also organised by Salmon & Sea Trout Recreational Anglers Ireland, was another event to benefit from funding.

The event for novice anglers took place in Tibbotstown Reservoir.
