Now officially open for business, Mitchelstown Leisure Centre will be a very positive addition to the town, creating employment and also giving people of all ages a facility, which can be used for a myriad of sports, activities and events.

Throughout the open day on Sunday, the sheer size of the impressive building was what struck most people, as the building, located in Canon's Field and accessed by the same road as Tesco, dominates the landscape.

Equipped with a multi purpose sports hall measuring 6,400 square feet approximately, a number of meeting rooms and changing facilities, an activities hall, aerobic studio and fitness suite for a gym, the potential of the centre is unlimited.

The gallery above the multi purpose hall also means that sports such as badminton, basketball or football can have spectators, which will make the venue very popular for competitions.

While this has been in the pipeline for some time, now that the doors are opened, it has been widely welcomed as a boost for Mitchelstown, with its close proximity to the schools and the centre of the town.
