Loudest Whisper are set to celebrate 50 years on the road on Friday, 2nd November with a special concert in the Rory Gallagher Music Library, Cork city.
The group will have their full concert band, together with members of The Cork Prison Officers Male Choir who will accompany them on some songs.
In the early sixties the beat group ‘The Wizards’ consisting of Mike Clancy (guitar), John Ahearne (bass), Jimmy Cotter (drums) and Brian O’Reilly (guitar) became Loudest Whisper in 1968, with Brendan Neligan replacing Jimmy Cotter on drums. Paud O’Reilly joined Loudest Whisper shortly afterwards.
Up to the present day many different line-ups have existed and today the band consists of Brian O’Reilly (guitar and vocals), Paud O’Reilly (drums and vocals) and Paul McCarthy (bass).

The last three years have seen a huge interest in ‘The Children of Lir’ following a series of highly successful concert productions in Heidelberg, Germany in 2015; The National Opera House, Wexford in 2017 and in The Opera House, Cork in May of this year.
First released in 1974, ‘The Children of Lir’ album has had an amazing journey and it still continues in full flight and is one of the most sought after collectors’ albums today.
Due to this phenomenal success, plans are in place for a concert production in 2020/21 in The Albert Hall, London with ‘Loudest Whisper’ as the centerpiece.
Their Cork concert is a free event and tickets will be available on a first come first served basis. The concert is timed for 3pm.
