Fermoy set for economic boost from Cork ’20’ Rally

Fermoy town can look forward to welcoming motorsport enthusiasts for the Cork ’20’ International Rally this October, providing a timely boost for businesses.

It has been announced this week that Fermoy Enterprise Centre has been invited to support in the hosting of the Cork ‘20’ International Rally in the Fermoy area, set to be held later this year. The Enterprise Board have agreed with the invite, for an event which will be based out of the Cork Marts site located at Corrin, Fermoy.

A world renowned event, the Cork '20' International Rally will take place in early October. Commenting on the economic boost for the town of Fermoy, chairman of Fermoy Enterprise Board Michael Hanley this week told The Avondhu that, “This event comes at a good time in October for businesses, at a time when the tourism season has come to an end. This will prove a very valuable exercise and we are delighted to be associated with the event”.

MEETING

An initial meeting will be held in Fermoy Community Youth Centre on Wednesday, February 25th, to establish a series of committees to steer the venture. Timed for 7.30pm sharp, all those interested in coming on board are welcome to attend.

It is understood that remaining details of the format of the famous 2015 Cork ‘20’ International Rally are currently being finalised. A firm favourite with competitors and spectators alike on the championship trail, Colman Hegarty has been appointed as clerk of the course for this year’s motorsport event, one of the oldest events in European rallying.
