The often weird and always wonderful world of Roald Dahl was the inspiration for a series of sell-out shows performed in The Palace Theatre, Fermoy by pupils from Scoil Bhride National School, Rathcormac last Monday and Tuesday night.

In a huge logistical undertaking, teachers co-ordinated the several hundred strong cast of fantastic looking individuals - pulling the theatrical strings were the terrific trio of actress Valerie Murphy and accomplished musicians, Louise McCarthy and Brenda O'Donovan.

Teacher, Mr. Gibbons, who we are led to believe harbours stage ambitions, oversaw 6th class pupils who did a brilliant interpretation of 'Snow White & The Seven Jockeys'.

Tomas Quirke was drafted in to look after lighting, while sound duties were assigned to Adrian Buckley. Ballyhooly based carpenter, Oliver McCarthy was in charge of set design and once again, this man's craft and creativity was seen to good effect.

Co-ordinating the co-ordinators was school principal, Margaret Howard who seemed to take the hustle, bustle and everything else that goes with this kind of show, in her stride. Margaret thanked everyone who helped make the event such a success, especially, Kieran Barry and the hardworking staff of Fermoy Community Youth Centre.

It's a bit of a cliché but the stars of this show were the ultra confident pupils of Scoil Bhride who rose to the occasion in spectacular fashion. They rehearsed for 6 weeks solid and this effort was reflected in their pitch perfect diction, their excellent singing and the way they mastered some very intricate dance routines.

Parents came on board in a big way and as is always the case, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents and relatives made up a sizeable proportion of the sell out crowd.
