It was officially announced last week that Marie Ring, who has been the principal at Loreto Fermoy for the past 7 years, is stepping down and will be taking on the role of principal of St Francis College, Rochestown in Cork.
Ms Ring took up her post as principal at Loreto in September 2011, having been employed as principal at Scoil Pól in Kilfinane prior to that. However, Ms Ring was no stranger to Fermoy as she has worked for many years at St Colman’s College and set up her family life in the town.
Marie Ring reflected on her time as principal at Loreto in Fermoy and has many happy memories from her 7 years at the school.
"It has been an honour and privilege to have been Principal of Loreto Secondary School Fermoy. I would like to thank the committed and dedicated staff, the Board of Management, the students and parents for their support over the last seven years. I am proud of the many local and national achievements we have had in the school and know that the progress made on our new building project will provide state of the art facilities for students and staff in the very near future," she told The Avondhu this week.
"I wish success and happiness always to everyone in the school community and wish the Board of Management well with the appointment of my successor. I will bring with me many happy memories of my years in Loreto Fermoy, but now look forward to a new chapter in my role as Principal of St Francis College, Rochestown, Cork," she said.
There will be a serious shake up at the school in September as deputy principal Ms Holland will also be leaving the school and will take up the post of deputy principal at St Aloysius’ College in Carrigtwohill.
It is understood that a successor for the position of principal at Loreto has yet to be appointed but parents of enrolled students will be notified when a new principal has been selected.
