As we prepare to go to press on Wednesday evening, HRH the Prince of Wales and HRH, the Duchess of Cornwall, will have been welcomed to Ballyvolane House in Castlelyons, where they are scheduled to stay as part of their holiday in Ireland.

There was great excitement in the locality in preparation for their arrival as hedges were cut, roads were repaired and hanging baskets and window boxes full of colourful flowers were to be seen throughout Castlelyons and Bridesbridge.

There was a high security presence in the vicinity of the big house on the day of their arrival and indeed on the days pending.

Garda checkpoints were set up in the vicinity of the house and each vehicle wishing to access the road leading to Ballyvolane House was thoroughly investigated before gaining access.
