On Tuesday, May 29, Eileen Palmer of Glanbia Castlelyons will deliver a gardening talk and demonstration on summer planting at Fermoy Community Resource Centre.
The event, which will run from 11am – 1pm, is to help raise funds for the ongoing development of the community garden, and in particular, the installation of the water feature, which will be the jewel in the crown in the front courtyard area of the Resource Centre located at MacCurtain Street.
The community garden is a joint initiative of the Fermoy Community Health Project and the Fermoy Community Resource Centre.
Phase 1 of the project commenced in March 2015, with the clearance of the tress and overgrown shrubbery in the front and rear gardens.
This phase was completed in May 2015 courtesy of Liam Barry and staff of BH Tree Services, and Brendan Buckley of Old Mill Construction Ltd.
Then, in August 2016 the transformation of the front courtyard phase of the garden was completed.
Since then it has been acknowledged and welcomed as a significant enhancement of the Fermoy streetscape and is being widely enjoyed by young and old alike; thanks to the funding from and goodwill of the key organisations behind the project.
A keystone annual event has been the Light of Love Remembrance Tree event which has been hosted for the past two years in December.
BENCH UNVEILED
During the course of next Tuesday morning’s event, a garden bench will be unveiled – this bench is dedicated to volunteers, both past and present, who have given of their time to the various services within the Fermoy Community Resource Centre.
Refreshments will be served and a raffle will take place. All are very welcome to attend.
