A fundraiser in aid of Cancer Care and in memory of Michael John Shinnick who lost his brave battle to cancer earlier this year, will be held in Glanworth on Saturday, September 10.
In co-operation with Glanworth Scouts, Michael Joh’s family and the local community, are holding an ‘adventure trail’ in his memory. The trail will begin in the village green in Glanworth at 12 noon and participants will meander through the countryside where Michael John would have spent many happy times hiking with the scouts.
It will continue along the banks of The Funcheon river and on up to The Hag’s Bed in Labbacallee. On return to Glanworth, there will be a barbecue followed by a singsong around the campfire on the village green.
This is guaranteed to be a fun-filled day and is open to all ages. It will also be an opportunity to explore the local countryside and experience some of the sights and sounds that made this one of Michael John’s most treasured trails.
We would love to see everybody on the day and all proceeds will go to St Luke’s Hospital, Dublin who took exceptional care of Michael John during his illness. For this worthy cause then, your support would be appreciated.
