Kearney Catering, a family run business based in Tallow with over 25 years experience, has won the Caterer of the Year award at the annual Food Awards Ireland night in the Crowne Plaza, Dublin.

On top of the overall award, Kearney Catering also won the Caterer of the Year 2016 for the South of Ireland.

As well as operating a restaurant on the main street in Tallow seven days a week, Kearney Catering provides canteens in numerous venues including St Colman’s College, Fermoy; Blackwater Community School, Lismore; Midleton College and the AIBP meat plant in Cahir as well as providing other outdoor catering services.

“We are absolutely thrilled and we thank our hard working staff, customers and friends,” Joanne Kearney told The Avondhu this week. She said they plan to celebrate this accolade in the community, and this Saturday they are hosting an event in Tallow in partnership with Brideview United and Tallow Community Council.

Santa will be arriving to the community centre at 2pm to meet all the children, then from 3.30pm there will be music entertainment and food in the car park next to Kearney’s Restaurant, before the big switch-on of the Christmas lights in Tallow at 5pm.
