While the Camogie All-Stars Awards – due to take place on Friday – have been postponed, the nomination received by local sportswoman Laura Hayes is just ‘reward’ for her season’s work.

The Cork player was nominated for the All-Stars in the Half-Back Line, where she will face stiff competition from fellow nomineesMeighan Farrell (Kilkenny), Caitriona Cormican (Galway), Siobhan Gardiner (Galway), Laura Treacy (Cork), Emma Helebert (Galway) and Saoirse McCarthy (Cork). This is the St. Catherine’s player’s first All-Stars nomination.

Speaking with The Avondhu, Ms Hayes said she was ‘shocked’ when she heard the news.

“I was very surprised when I got nominated. I wasn’t expecting it at all. It does mean a lot to be nominated. We fell short in the All-Ireland this year so this is a nice way of all the hard work being rewarded,” she said.
