Kilworth’s Valerie McCormack, co-owner of FITTstop in Fermoy, will compete in the 2015 New York City marathon next November in aid of Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin.

In addition to this large-scale fundraising effort, Valerie and her FITTstop co-owner, Sylvia Flynn, are organising a Santa Dash around Fermoy on St Stephen’s Day with all proceeds going to Our Lady's Children's Hospital.

Valerie has done a series of fundraising events throughout the year and thanked the local businesses and people for their support so far. The Santa Dash incorporates a fitness aspect as well as putting a bit of fun around Fermoy on St Stephen’s morning.

The two and a half mile walk or jog around the town requires all participants to wear a Santa hat, and entry for adults is €7. Entry for children is €1 or €2. Each year FITTstop organise a charity event, with last year’s event raising over €2,000, and it is hoped that impressive figure can be topped this year.

Pre-registering is open now from FITTstop Personal Training and Fitness Studio, while participants can also register on the morning of the event. Raffle tickets are currently on sale to raise funds for Valerie’s marathon effort, tickets are €5 and can be purchased at FITTstop.
