Serious questions surround plans to abolish town councils
If the idea of foraging about in the gardens of lovely Dromana house, between Cappoquin and Villierstown and the lush woodlands surrounding it appeals to you then a planned event on Sunday next will almost certainly appeal.
Aine Marie O’Reilly of The Lismore Clinic, which provides alternative and herbal therapies, is heading back to Dromana on Sunday next after a complete sell out of her last event there.
Aine Marie will open the workshop with a talk about herbal medicine, which uses plants and plant extracts in the prevention and treatment of disease. People have been using plants to cure illness for thousands of years. Herbal medicine and orthodox medicine actually share a common root. It wasn’t until around 200 years ago that scientists first began to extract individual active constituents from plants in order to produce orthodox drugs.
Aine Marie, who holds a number of qualifications in her field of expertise, will then take attendees out foraging in the extensive gardens and woodlands of Dromana and afterwards will demonstrate how to make some simple home remedies such as herb teas, infused oils and creams.
Admission is €10 for adults with children under 12 going free. Tea and light refreshments are included in the price. For further information or to book a place, contact Dromana House on 024-96144.
