A feast of drama comes to Friars’ Gate Theatre, Kilmallock as they host the 24th Annual Festival of Drama from Friday 24th – Sunday 26th October at 8pm nightly. With a season ticket for only €20, you can enjoy a feast of drama over the bank holiday weekend. The weekend features an eclectic line up of drama – three evening of theatre with some of the best amateur drama groups in the country. Three one act plays a night for three nights! FILM ‘CALVARY’ Cert: 15A
On Wednesday, 29th October at 8pm, ‘Calvary’ comes to the silver screen at Friars’ Gate starring Brendan Gleeson. It is centred around Father James Lavelle (Gleeson), the priest in a small Sligo parish. One day, while hearing confession, he is told that he is going to be murdered – in one week. It’s a week in which Father James struggles to understand his death sentence as the day draws near, searching for hope and faith amongst his motley collection of parishioners.
