Over the past five years, the Bel Canto Choir have raised more than €20,000 for Cork-based charities and they added to this with the sale of their most recent Christmas CD.

FAR REACHING

Recently, they presented Marymount Hospice with a cheque for €6,000 from the proceeds of the CD in the Church of the Holy Spirit in Dennehy's Cross, Cork, where the choir sang at Marymount's service of remembrance.

In December, they held their annual Christmas concert and the proceeds allowed them to donate €2,000 to the Cork Sick Poor and €1,000 to the Mitchelstown Youth Project.

The choir members would like to thank everyone for their continued support over the years and they hope to see people at their upcoming events.

LOOKING AHEAD

They are now busy preparing for their busy Autumn season and will be holding a concert in Mitchelstown Caves on Saturday, September 21, where they will be joined by tenor Michael Molumby and sopranos Davinia Robinson and Maria Crowley. The concert will be in aid of South Tipperary Hospice and only 150 tickets are for sale, so people are urged to buy early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are available from choir members.

On October 18, they will also open again for Phil Coulter in the Corrin Event Centre.
