Dairygold Milk Suppliers and Shareholders Group have called a meeting at Mallow GAA Complex on next Tuesday night at 8.30pm to further discuss their concerns over the new milk supply agreement/contract.

The group say there are ‘a number of unanswered questions regarding the contract and cite two motions for a proposed SGM/EGM: one to shelve the present agreement/contract until ‘an affordable, fair and agreed replacement can be put in its place’ and secondly, to introduce independent milk testing ‘to help create trust’, two issues they claim there is widespread support for.

The group say they have not submitted the request for an EGM/SGM as yet. “We hope our co-op will seriously consider what we are asking for – the view expressed by over 1100 farmers in the Mallow GAA complex recently.”

As part of a lengthy statement issued this week, Dairygold requests any member who may have issues or queries in relation to the plan to talk with Co-Op management about any issues or concerns they might wish to discuss “rather”, as they state, “than creating confusion for fellow members by generating pointless opinion debate through the media. The Society is prepared to meet any members who may wish to discuss or seek clarification in relation to their concerns.”

(At the time of going to press, The Avondhu is in receipt of two lengthy statements from both the concerned milk suppliers group and Dairygold. However, due to time constraints and the complexity and length of both statements, we have had to hold them over for consideration to next week’s issue).
