CCTV is being reviewed by Gardaí after a car was damaged on James Street in Mitchelstown over the weekend. Anthony Forde’s silver VW Golf was parked on the street, at the lower end of the road, when the windscreen was damaged on Saturday or Sunday night.

The car has been tested for fingerprints by Gardaí, and local CCTV footage is being examined for evidence.

“I was out on the motorbike on Sunday, so I didn’t go near the car. My brother actually alerted it to me on Sunday, so I went up to the guards with it then for a forensics examination.”

The bonnet suffered minor damage, potentially from having been stood on.

“I took it up to the Gardaí and they checked for fingerprints, and now they’re looking at CCTV from a local business that may have caught it.”

Anyone who was witness to the incident, or believes they have any information, can contact Mitchelstown Garda Station on 025 84833.
