There are questions surrounding the disposal of wastewater from residences in Kilbehenny, following allegations of pollution by members of the public in the village.

The village sits on the border between Cork and Limerick, and so different parts of the village fall under the remit of different councils.

Irish Water have confirmed that there is no sewerage network in Kilbehenny. There is a storm sewer on the main street, which is under the remit of Cork County Council as it falls on that side of the border.

Limerick’s Development Plan says of Kilbehenny that: “In terms of the sewerage treatment, there is spare capacity.”
