A reunion committee for the Presentation Secondary School in Thurles has been set up to track down past pupils from the school who left between 1942 and 2002, ahead of their reunion on Saturday, September 21.

The event is being organised to coincide with The Gathering, and as many of the past pupils moved to neighbouring counties, they are appealing to as many as possible to confirm their attendance.

A member of the committee, Dearbhla Neville stressed that it is a ticket only event and tickets for €30 can be purchased by phone (contact 087 7037861), by e-mail (presthurlesreunion@gmail.com) or they can be bought in The Bookworm, The Bridge Cafe, Mockler’s Pharmacy or The Gift Rooms in Thurles. Tickets will not be available on the day and must be purchased in advance before Friday, September 13.

Dearbhla explained that registration takes place in the school at 2pm, while the boarding school will be open from 12.30 until 2pm for past pupils to take a step back in time and revisit what once was their home away from home.

This will be followed by Mass at 2pm, a cheese and wine reception and a hot buffet. There will be a large number of photos on display to trigger those nostalgic memories, while there will be different areas for each decade, so that people can reminisce with their former school friends.

The reunion will bring together students from across 60 years of boarding experiences and it would be a great chance for people to reunite and fill each other in on where their lives went from the day they left the Presentation Secondary School.
