Last year’s St Patrick’s Day parade in Fermoy had 47 entries, up six on the previous year, and the organisers are hoping to top that this year.

There was a great variety of entries last year – from the two pre-school groups to the Active Retirement and UN Veterans groups, Fermoy Musical Society, The Voice of Ireland, floating boats and the sub-aqua club. Every sport you can think of was represented with all the local clubs, GAA, soccer, rugby, athletics, Karate, Taekwando, fishing and rowing, taking part.

The parade is always eagerly anticipated, it’s great family entertainment on our traditional feastday and draws a great crowd to Fermoy.

The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade will be announced next Monday night, February 24th. Follow news on it on Twitter@FermoyStPatrick.

This will be the town’s 31st parade, testament to its enduring popularity. The organisers have set up a Facebook page and are asking people with photos of previous parades to post them for the enjoyment of others.
