A new footpath connecting Fermoy with the Old Kilcrumper Cemetery, providing a safe pathway along a busy stretch of the Dublin Road, has been completed.

The path links existing footpaths across from Amber Service Station and Old Kilcrumper, and was completed by a team of local workers backed by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, and Cork County Council.

It has been greatly desired by local residents for many years, and allows mourners to visit the cemetery on foot without having to put themselves at risk.

Avondhu Blackwater joined the project at the initiation stage, providing a team of 10 skilled labourers under the development company’s Tús programme. In addition, Vincent O’Flynn, Tús Supervisor at Avondhu Blackwater, provided on-site, supervised support.

Cork County Council provided careful planning, materials, labour and traffic management support. Council workers Tom Fenney and Kieran O’Connor worked tirelessly on the path, and were supported by a number of council staffers.

The Tús workers involved in the project were: David Clarke, Paul Copeland, Bernard Coen, Rihard Jenetetics, Michael Aherne, David Noonan, Ciaran Hanley, Joe McSweeney, Graham Bayley and Bryan Daly.

Staff at Avondhu Blackwater Partnership extended their sincere gratitude to all those involved, from the planning stage through to the project’s completion.
