2016 saw Glanworth village transformed into a country village we are all very proud of.

In a mere eight months, Glanworth Tidy Towns volunteers have put in a super human effort to restore and beautify the village whilst maintaining and highlighting its unique history and heritage.

As the adage goes ‘each one of us can make a difference but together we can make a change’ and this has been proven in Glanworth village where, when working together, many amazing feats were completed in a short space of time.

Main Street was painted and adorned with flower pots; the grotto which had fallen into disrepair was lovingly restored; approach roads were landscaped and maintained; the litter patrol walked miles every morning to keep the village clean of litter; bat and bird boxes were installed to promote wildlife; a talk was given by a local veterinary surgeon to the national school children about local wildlife and many more improvements, too many to mention here, were carried out.

The most recent task for the volunteers was the installation of a 30 foot Christmas tree at Main Street.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to the Glanworth giant Christmas tree ‘switch-on’ on this Saturday night, 10th December at 8.30pm.

There will be carol singing and mince pies will be served up to celebrate our beautiful village and its residents at this festive time of year. See you there.
