Corrin Event Centre, Fermoy was the setting for a day-long multi agency workshop that assessed the region's readiness to response to an incident involving hazardous materials. 

Initiatied by Fermoy Gardai, under the direction of Sgt. James Hallahan, the event, held on Wednesday, October 12, brought together (speakers in brackets) representatives from Cork County Fire & Rescue Service (Michael Kelleher), South Coast Transport (Richie O'Flynn), the ambulance service (Anthony Byrne), Lagan (P.J. Kelly), Direct Route (Declan Cahill) and members of An Garda Siochana (Garda Kieran Leahy, Inspector Finbarr O'Sullivan, Sergeant Peter Murphy and Sergeant Jim Delea).
