A former Kilworth resident has cited inconsistencies with the 245 bus service operated by Bus Éireann as the reason for him having to relocate to Mitchelstown earlier this year.

Speaking to The Avondhu, Dave Regan described frequent difficulties he faced with catching the 245 bus each day while living in Kilworth village. “People can’t use the service because they can’t depend on the bus to turn up,” he said.

While a spokesperson for Bus Éireann indicated that they operate two inbound and three outbound services directly into Kilworth village from Monday to Saturday, Mr Regan said bus drivers often elect only to stop at Molly Barry’s Cross on the R639, some 800 metres from the centre of the village.

“I had to leave Kilworth and go hire a flat in Mitchelstown because you couldn’t depend on the bus service in Kilworth. It would all depend on what driver is on whether it would turn up in Kilworth or not.”
