Galtee Runners are calling on all local runners, joggers and walkers to put on their running shoes, as they prepare to host their annual 8km road race. GR8KM, which is now in it’s 7th year, will take place on Friday, 5th of August.

Almost 300 people took part in the event last year, and organisers are hopeful that entry levels this year will exceed this figure.

The route will begin at Mitchelstown Leisure Centre, taking participants along Church Street before continuing to Kingston College. They will then proceed towards Pollardstown before returning to the leisure centre.

Competitors can register for the event on the night from 5pm to 7.15pm at the starting location, where the race will be beginning at 7.30pm.

The registration fee for the event is €10, which covers entry, chip timing and refreshments following the race.

There will be a number of great prizes on the night, with a trophy being presented to the first local person to cross the finish line.
