Hundreds of pupils made their journey to Presentation Primary School on foot recently to celebrate the school’s first Fuel Free Friday and to mark their ongoing success in the Green-Schools programme.

The pupils and their parents were greeted by teachers and classmates at the school gates along College Road in Fermoy and were provided with fruit and water, courtesy of Riordan’s SuperValu.

The pupils then moved to the school hall for an assembly highlighting the school’s commitment to the environment and well-being through the Fuel Free Friday initiative, which encourages all pupils to walk to school or to car pool to minimise on carbon emissions and traffic congestion before and after school.

The initiative was brought to fruition by the Green-Schools committee and their teacher Ms Dillon, who explained the importance of continuing Fuel Free Fridays in the future.
