Established in April of this year, the new branch of Fermoy Credit Union in Colaiste an Chraoibhin is proving a great success.

Following an extensive interview process, transition year students: Andrew Desmond (Watergrasshill), Anna Greaney (Castlelyons), Laura Hynes (Araglin) and Richard Shanahan (Rathcormac) were selected to operate and oversee this fully fledged branch (student members can lodge and withdraw money).

Paying a courtesy visit to the branch that opens during lunch break, Fermoy Credit Union representative, Norahanne Soe, expressed complete confidence in this competent and very able group of students.

“By giving these students the independence to run their own branch of Fermoy Credit Union we are giving them huge responsibility – a responsibility they will learn a tremendous amount from. Regarding the credit union’s perspective, we learn about catering for a younger generation and meeting their needs” Ms Soe said.
