Established in 2009 by a small group of musical enthusiasts, the choir Cor Geal star has been on the rise ever since. Comprising singers primarily from Whitechurch, they are supplemented by members from Watergrasshill and Glenville.

Conducted by musical director, Betty Fitzgerald, the choir’s appeal extends far beyond their native Cork and they are among an elite group of performers to have sung in the Royal Albert Hall.

Community based and adopting an amateur status, they’ve helped raise thousands of euros for deserving causes such as The Irish Cancer Society and St Vincent de Paul.

On Saturday last, they were in Corrin Event Centre for another sell out concert. Taking up residence in the Blackwater Arena, they effortlessly worked their way through a repertoirie with a strong festive theme.

Accompanied by some outstanding musicians, the end result was a fantatic night’s entertainment.
